Today we’ll talk about a resignation letter example that you can use when you need to resign. The sample resignation letter I’ll refer to is one that I wrote for another website I operate related to career advice.
Resigning can be a difficult thing to do especially if you’ve been working with the company for a significant period of time but it doesn’t have to be hard. Departing a company is a fact of life and you’ll probably do it more than once in your career so you might as well get used to it and perfect it!
When I’ve resigned from companies in the past, I’ve tried to do the following:
- Keep it short
- Keep it factual
- Keep it nice.
In other words when I tell my manager I’m resigning, I keep the resignation talk brief, I tell them honestly why I’m resigning and I ensure I don’t burn any bridges.
In terms of the actual process involved in a resignation, typically a verbal discussion with your boss or manager followed by a written resignation letter usually works but your company or industry might have a different method.
In case you didn’t see the link above, you can check out my simple resignation letter template and tailor it for your own use.
