…tend to exhibit the following traits:
1. They have numerous spelling and/or grammatical errors.
2. They utilize different fonts where the text suddenly changes font or font size for no apparent reason.
3. They’re typed in tiny font 8 or 10 which makes it hard to read. (Note: some fonts like Arial look ok in size 10 font but other popular ones like Times Roman can appear small on a page)
4. They aren’t spaced properly or laid out properly and have either too much white space or not enough.
5. They contain information which simply isn’t correct ie. they show job titles you never had, describe accomplishments you weren’t responsible for, mentions degrees you don’t actually hold, etc. These are common lies that people tell on resumes.
6. They have personal information like your picture, your birthday, marital status, etc which is information that you shouldn’t include in your resume.
7. They have mistakes that make me question the validity of what was written ie. you show that you left one job in April and started another job in January of the same year. Huh?
8. The resume reads as if you took your job description and copied and pasted it into your resume rather than discussing the accomplishments you’ve achieved in the role.
