Contact information

by Carl Mueller

As a recruiter, one of the more annoying things is when people include incorrect and/or minimal contact information on their resume which only makes it harder for people to contact them.

Presumably if they are looking for a job – especially when they have their resume posted on every job board on the planet – they’d want to be easily found. In some cases I’ve had to track people down in other ways because the contact info on their resumes was so bad and when I finally get hold of them and ask them why they’re trying to go incognito they often say it’s because they don’t want to get contacted by lots of people. There’s some great logic…you’re looking for a job but don’t want to be contacted. Perhaps hiring managers should just courier you a job offer without meeting you as testament to their brilliance…

In any regards, a functioning phone number with (a professional) voice message and a functioning and well-checked email account (ie. the email doesn’t bounce back because your mailbox is full) is the best way to ensure people can contact you.

And as far as receiving too many calls, don’t post your resume on every job and email it to every recruiter if that’s the case.
